After a fantastic week in Thailand, the Timeleap team is back home in Switzerland, feeling energized and inspired by everything we experienced at DevCon 24 and our own Timeleap @ Devcon 2024: DePIN, AI & Infrastructure Networking Event.

Timeleap @ Devcon 2024: DePIN, AI & Infrastructure Networking Event.

It was a long journey — a 16-hour flight from Bangkok — but every moment we spent at the conference and our event made it worthwhile. DevCon 24 brought together some of the most innovative minds in blockchain, and we were excited to present Unchained, our flagship network for distributed and decentralized computation.

This was our company’s first-ever event, and in addition to the already announced product innovation grant, we secured a second grant from the Vaud government (SPEI) to sponsor it. We’re already looking forward to the future events we will attend and host with our Unchained Builder grants we plan to announce.

Nathalie, Kevin, Pouya, and Andrey of Timeleap were present at DevCon 24, in Bangkok.

During our stay in Bangkok, the team had plenty of time to connect with Timeleap community members, advisors, and crypto builders. We shared technical details about Unchained and our plans for the future with them, receiving positive feedback.

Here are our key takeaways from the Bangkok event:

Focusing on Builders

A sustainable sovereign network requires adoption from builders who enhance its utilities and appeal to end users. Our vision consists of multiple technologies that make an ecosystem for building and sharing distributed applications:

  • Sia, our serialization library and format for remote procedure calls and interprocess communications, is one of the (if not the) fastest serialization libraries worldwide, with over 4,000 new users adding it to their projects weekly.
  • GhostFS, our state-of-the-art streaming remote filesystem. It allows distributed applications to access user data over the network with zero waiting times. Top research facilities in Switzerland and Europe benefit from this solution in their applications.
  • Unchained, a flexible and high-performance network built for computation. Our sovereign network piqued the interest of our users and many builders in this space. The growth of our company and community since the first release of Unchained is undeniable.
  • Tachyon, a programming language combining all the above in one package for easier usage, has already been starred on GitHub by over 900 developers from top companies such as AWS, Microsoft, Google, and others.
Sia is four times faster than JSON and 50% smaller, leading to lower latency and better response times.

Our new focus will be on developers using our technologies. We aim to provide excellent documentation, benchmarks, and tools for them. As part of this commitment, we are rebuilding our website and rolling out our own documentation framework, Tiramisu, a fully customizable language with code and demo playgrounds.

Refined Communication

As part of our milestone to onboard more builders to our network, we have planned several changes to our communication channels and content strategy. In summary, we will concentrate on creating content geared more towards developers, including technical articles.

Our community should expect multiple announcements regarding this new strategy in the next few weeks. Several infographics are in the works, detailing the different components of our network, what’s already there, and how we plan to develop the remaining innovative parts of our ecosystem.

Thank You!

We thank our community for believing in us and aim to be more transparent about the upcoming planned changes. We would also like to thank Jay for his invaluable help in planning for our event at Devcon 24. I’d like to personally thank the Timeleap team, who worked hard to prepare for the event. It was fun to meet developers and community members at DevCon, and for those who couldn’t make it, we hope to see you at our next event!
